Much like the year 2020, 2021 too faced several adversities, including months-long lockdown due to the on-going pandemic. People preferred staying back at home and entertain themselves in different unique ways. While some indulged in cooking (much like last year), some participated in various unique challenges on the internet. If you had explored social media throughout the year, then you surely came across several such food challenges. These food challenges went viral garnering millions of views across social media. As the year 2021 is coming to an end, we bring you few of those food challenges that we enjoyed the most. Let’s check them out.
Here’re 5 Food Challenges That Went Viral In 2021:
1. ‘Squid Game’ Challenge:
The internet is no stranger to the popular South Korean series ‘Squid Game’. This show is based on a contest, where competitors battle it out in a series of childhood games to win a bumper cash prize; while the losers are eliminated by being killed. Based on this popular series, a Beijing bakery introduced a new challenge for customers to make ‘dalgona candy’ (from ‘Squid Game’). The food contest costed 58 Yuan or 9 US Dollars. Here, the idea was to make the candy from scratch in under 10 minutes. Hundreds of people participated in the challenge, making it a hit both online and offline. Click here to know more.
2. Oops I Did It Again:
Based on a trend on Instagram Reels, several Bollywood and TV divas participated in ‘Oops I Did It Again’ challenge, where they spilled their food secrets to the world. From Tahira Kashyap to Hina Khan and Anita Hassanandani – several celebrities jumped on the bandwagon of this video trend. Click here to know more.
3. #DontRush Challenge:
Another such food challenge based on Instagram Reels was ‘#DontRush Challenge’. It was named after the popular song ‘Don’t Rush’. The challenge started out with people undergoing multiple looks or outfit changes in a single video compilation. This was then turned into a food challenge where several celebrities participated with their favourite foods and gave the game a whole new angle. Our favourite in the lot was the challenge taken up by actor Tamannaah. Her challenge was to not leave her bed and enjoy mango with all her heart.
